Brief Write up on Program

In the Sathya Sai Seva Organizations' Koti Samithi, as part of the Bal Vikas program held at Sultan Bazar today, various aspects of Mahatma Gandhi's life were discussed and imparted to the students in our Bal Vikas class. The revered dignitaries, namely Guruvulu, Sri Visweswara Sastry, explained the following points:

  1. Mohandas Das Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869, in a modest family in Porbandar, Gujarat. His father's name was Karamchand Gandhi, and his mother was Putlibai. He was brought up by Kasturba, who later became his wife.

  2. Gandhi is considered one of the foremost leaders who achieved independence for India from British rule.

  3. People referred to Gandhi with several titles, such as Mahatma (Great Soul), Bapu (Father), and Gandhiji.

  4. Gandhi advocated principles such as truth (Satya), non-violence (Ahimsa), self-reliance, and civil disobedience as his tools of struggle.

  5. Gandhi edited a prominent newspaper called "Indian Opinion."

  6. Gandhi had a profound influence on his thinking from the Bhagavad Gita.

  7. In 1942, he initiated the Quit India Movement, urging the British to leave India.

  8. In 1930, Gandhi initiated the Salt March (Dandi March) to protest against the salt tax imposed by the British.

  9. On January 30, 1948, Gandhi was assassinated in Birla House, Delhi, while on his way to a prayer meeting. He uttered the words "Hey Ram" as he fell.

Smt. Renuka recited a poem, "Kokila Vratam," explaining to the students the essence of love in the five vital breaths of life, emphasizing the importance of love within our hearts, just as a mother is the first guru. The Koti Samithi students also offered roses to symbolize their commitment to spreading the same love and strength and prayed for the same divine energy to be bestowed upon them.

Gurus, as of today, January 10, 2023, creatively depicted the ten points related to Gandhi's life through a painting of Gandhi. This initiative was undertaken during the present Jayanti celebration program. Participants included Satwika, Supriya, Ananya, Sanhith, Akhileshwar Sai Prasad, Baaleshwar Sai Prasad, Niharika Navale, and Ashrit, among others.

The program concluded with a peaceful prayer.

Sai Ram.
